OUR STORY 

Brenda Powell is the Executive Director of Laptops 4 Learning. She brings 11 years of experience in education, as a high school guidance counselor, in the Phoenix Union High School District.  She partnered over the years with hundreds of students and their parents, to navigate their successful graduation from high school and effectively laid the course for them to pursue their desired college or university admissions goal.  


Prior to becoming a high school guidance counselor, Brenda worked in corporate sales and training for 20 + years for companies such as Xerox, TRW and Honeywell. As a sales professional, she sold to businesses in a variety of markets including private enterprise, local government and higher education.

Several years ago, ​Laptops 4 Learning founder, Dwayne Baker, recognized the need for Students he mentored to have access to technology for educational and employment opportunities. He saw that for many students, school sponsored technology resources were the only tools available to them, to be able to keep up with their assignments. As a veteran, Mr. Baker, also wanted to help the veteran population pursue employment opportunities. Both of these groups needed to have a laptop of their own, in order to be successful. 

Baker formed L4L in direct response to those students he encountered, and military veterans, who did not have the means to obtain a laptop.  Laptops 4 Learning was created as a vehicle used to donate laptops to students and veterans.  This venture has evolved into a nonprofit organization focused on  supplying ANY student and veteran that needs support with this essential technology tool. Students and veterans are able to set up an account on the L4L website to solicit tax deductible donations from family, friends and community members. As soon as the student receives $125 in donations, the computer is theirs.  

EXECUTIVE STAFF

Dwayne is the founder of Laptops 4 Learning. A manufacturing engineering professional and entrepreneur, whose most recent invention is  "The Purr-ifier", an Air Filtration device that he designed from conception, product specification and all phases of process development.  After manufacturing The Purr-fier for major customers like Amazon, Dwayne licensed The Purr-fier to LifeBrands and partnered with Arizona Industry Of The Blind.  He is now set to manufacture the device in worldwide markets.

 GREGORY A POWELL / DIRECTOR, PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT 

Greg Powell is the Director of Program Development.  As a Business Development professional, Greg has over 40 years experience in technology sales, sales management and channel program development. He successfully sold products and services to corporate enterprise clients, Federal, State and Local government entities and education institutions. As a Sales Manager, Greg created and implemented business plans to deliver profitable growth, while simultaneously building long term business relationships.
